Washington DC Airports

Traveling from Baltimore-Washington International Airport or Dulles Airport? Use Super Shuttle Van!

The Washington Metropolitan area is serviced by three major airports: Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD), and the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). Because of its proximity and access to the Blue and Yellow Metro Rail lines, many of our guests traveling from the Ronald Reagan National Airport can easily get to our bed and breakfast in Washington DC with relative ease.

Our guest traveling from Baltimore-Washington International Airport or Dulles Airport, however, have fewer modes of transportation to Washington DC. But not to worry, Super Shuttle is the most convenient way to travel from BWI or IAD, especially night arrivals. Simply go online and reserve a seat. Your shuttle will be waiting for you at the airport to drop you off at our bed and breakfast. Fares from Baltimore-Washington International Aiport and Dulles Airport are $37 and $29, respectively. For each additional passengers, the rate is $10.

Safe and fun travels.

Washington DC Public Transportation

Low-cost luxury transportation to DC from New York and Philly isn’t too good to be true!

If you want to take a trip from DC to New York City or Philadelphia (or vice versa), but don’t want to spend what it costs to fly or take the train, there are some pretty luxurious alternatives out there. Megabus, Bolt Bus, and DC2NY offer upscale vehicles which are equipped with free WiFi, electrical outlets and clean bathrooms. DC2NY offers one-way tickets for $30 and round-trip tickets for $60.00. Both Megabus and Bolt Bus price their tickets on a sliding scale, so that tickets booked in advance are as little as $2 one-way for the first few to book their seats for a particular trip. After that their prices scale up the fuller the bus gets. On average you’ll pay under $20 for a one-way or under $40 for a round-trip ticket with these two luxury lines. Additionally, a few of these lines even offer buses to Boston for reasonable prices.

For an economy traveler on an economy budget there are a few other bus lines that aren’t quite as luxurious, but still very reliable.

Megabus and Bolt bus depart from Union Station, which is on the Red Metro Line. Conveniently, our lodging  is located in Dupont Circle, which is also on the Red Metro Line just a few stops down from Union Station. The DC2NY bus departs from Dupont Circle, just a few minutes from our front door. So when planning your Washington, DC trip itinerary, consider us as your best location to stay in Washington DC.

Holidays Washington DC Activities

What is there to do for Halloween in or near Washington DC?

Washington DC is mostly known for its politics, but even these politicos like to throw on a costume and get into some mischief on Halloween. There are several in-town Halloween events, as well as some that are a short, but worth the effort, trek outside the city. There are plenty of events for kids as well as “big kids.” There are even “big kid” events not geared toward the college-aged crowd (i.e. those of you wanting to have a good time without getting too wild). There are also several ghost tours in DC as well as historic Alexandria to chose from.

If you’re looking for something to do in the city, you can try Boo at the Zoo from October 26th-28th. Basically, you can go trick-or-treating at the National Zoo in costume and all proceeds raised from Boo at the Zoo go toward funding the Zoo’s conservation science and animal care programs. This event is both little and “big kid” friendly.

Outside the city there are a slew of pumpkin patch picking hay rides, corn mazes with festivals, and an area-local favorite- Markoff’s Haunted Forrest. It’s a famous around these parts and draws quite a few visitors from far and wide. There are two trails through the forest, both equally as frightening. In years past there have been killer clowns with chainsaws, zombies, the frightening girl who crawls out of the television in the Ring, the list goes on. This year’s theme seems to be zombie prom gone terribly wrong. Markoff’s also donates a portion of its proceeds to different local charities. Honestly, it’s not to be missed!

Just make sure that no matter what you decide to do an this fun and festive evening that you consider our charming accommodation in Washington DC when you’re deciding where to stay when visiting.
