Washington DC’s Jack Rose Dining Saloon

If you’re in Washington DC, you must check out Jack Rose Dining Saloon. Luckily it is only a 6 minute walk from our Washington Bed and Breakfast. Open for dinner from Sunday to Thursday, Jack Rose Dining Saloon is for those who appreciate a good atmosphere, good food, and good whiskey. Whether you’re meeting clients or coworkers, or looking for a romantic evening out, Jack Rose is perfect.

The atmosphere is old western and comfortable. Even though the restaurant is leaning on upscale, it also has a certain grit to it. There are warm-colored wood panels and 2687 bottles of whiskey on the wall.

The food is excellent and nostalgic. Get buttermilk biscuits and honey butter, warm, creamy mashed potatoes, and crispy, roasted brussels sprouts. Or indulge in braised pork belly with apple flavors, or warm Amish chicken pot pie. For dessert, try their bourbon pecan pie, or dig in to brown butter cake with spiced almond brittle and salted caramel gelato.

But beyond the dining saloon is where it gets more interesting. Ask the hostess about being seated at the secret bar in the cellar. If it’s open that night, you’re in for a treat. You’ll be taken down to the basement’s and through a sliding door into the Whiskey Cellar, called Dram & Grain. Dram & Grain is reminiscent of a 1930s speakeasy. You’ll get a drink menu that’s both experimental and vintage, and you’ll hear jazz music and gentle chatter in the dimly lit room with only a handful of other customers.

When you come to DC, you won’t want to miss the dining experience of Jack Rose, and our bed and breakfast is the perfect distance from the restaurant. But did you know that room rates increase as hotels get busier? Book Now and save!
