When I moved to DC a year and a half ago I came not knowing anyone or the area well at all and I was eager to find a place that could become my regular spot. The place I could go for any meal at anytime. I wanted a place comfortable like my home, but one that could serve me breakfast. And breakfast that would be available at 4 pm, if needed. Luckily, just around the corner from our DC B&B in our lovely neighborhood of Adams Morgan there is just the place – Tryst Coffeehouse. Breakfast all day, menu must-haves, homemade pie, delicious coffee…I was in. I can grab a book from their Take One, Leave One bookshelf and stay all day.
Tryst has an irresistible atmosphere that I continue to enjoy immersing myself in. There are many cozy, mismatched couches around the coffee shop with groups of friends hanging out enjoying their large mugs of coffee. And a few nights a week local musicians perform their songs. It’s the local hangout spot where you always want to be. It’s the Central Perk of Adams Morgan.
There are so many delicious items on the Tryst menu – I’ve tried most – and here are my best-ofs. For breakfast my go-to is the Spinach Frittata. It’s has Swiss cheese baked throughout and it comes with a side of salad or fruit. It’s filling but not regrettable. For lunch I love doing the “Build Your Own Salad”. All of their different toppings make being healthy doable. Now, if you’re coming for dinner and you’ve had a hard week and need something delicious to make everything okay, go for the Nachos. It’s a huge, heavenly plate with all the best toppings. And no matter what time of day it is, you should get one of their baked goods. Their Chocolate Silk pie is divine and all of their cakes look and taste like they came from the winners of the British Baking Show.
If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to book a stay at our Washington DC bed and breakfast and then head over to Tryst for a scrumptious meal!
