Capitol Hill Neighborhood

One of my favorite neighborhoods to explore in DC is Capitol Hill. Not only does it have the historical sites and monuments, but also a daily market, great restaurants, and unique shops to visit. Our DC Inn is an easy commute to all of the excitement as we are just a 10-minute walk to the Dupont Metro Station which will take you right there. Here’s my list of a few of the neighborhood’s must-sees:

  • U.S. Capitol – Take a tour of the building and sit and watch Congress in session as they discuss passing new laws. Both are free – you can get a ticket to tour on their website & visit your Congressman’s office for a pass to visit the Senate and/or House. Check out our blog on the details of how to visit to U.S. Capitol.
  • Library of Congress – Visit the largest library in the world with over 38 million books! You can take a free one-hour guided tour of the building, or one of their other offered tours. It’s one of the most beautiful and oldest buildings in the city.
  • Eastern Market – From Tuesday through Sunday DC locals stroll through Eastern Market to find the freshest produce and unique finds. On the weekends, the market expands to include a wide-variety of outdoor booths selling handmade arts, antiques, baked goods and much more! Here’s our blog on Eastern Market with details on when to go & our favorite parts.
  • U.S. Botanical Garden – Stroll through a tropical rain forest and surround yourself with lush greenery at the U.S Botanic Garden where you will find a beautiful collection of plants to explore. It’s a serene place to walk through with a beautiful scenery. It’s free to visit and is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

Washington DC has so many interesting neighborhoods to explore, each rich in history and culture. Book a room at our Washington DC bed and breakfast now for your DC getaway!
