2016 CGS Annual Meeting

December 7th-10th the 2016 Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) Annual Meeting will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, near our Washington DC bed and breakfast. This conference will be an opportunity to discuss and explore issues in graduate education. There will be a variety of workshops, plenaries, sessions, and speakers to attend that will all focus on this year’s theme: “Building Graduate Education’s Narrative.”

This year’s speakers will include, moderator of Washington Week and co-anchor of The PBS Newshour, Gwen Iffil, CEO of Business Higher Education Forum, Brian Fitzgerald, former member of Congress, Rush Halt, and more. On December 7th there will be interactive pre-conference workshops you can attend, some of which include, “The Legal Issues”, “Master’s Level Enrollment Management”, and “Advocacy Reality Check.” These workshops are a great opportunity to learn about new strategies and resources. Each session is $75 to attend.

For the remainder of the conference there will be both plenary and concurrent sessions that will cover topics such as, Politics, Policy, and Reality: What’s Really Going on in Washington, Admissions and Access to Higher Education in a Post-Fisher Era, Ethics in the Era of Big Data, Prior Learning Assessment in Graduate Education, and much more. In addition to the enriching sessions, there will also be special events for you to network and connect with other attending – Opening Dinner, Awards Luncheon, and Networking Luncheon.

To attend 2016 CGS Annual Meeting, you can purchase your ticket for $855 for members or $1090 for non-members by November 15th. After November 15th, on-site tickets will be available for $905 for members and $1140 for non-members. The CGS Meeting has reserved rooms at the Omni Shoreham Hotel for $189 plus tax per night, but you must reserve your room in addition to purchasing your ticket. Rooms will be available at that price up until November 11th.
