The best BBQ in Washington DC, Federalist Pig

Are you looking for an amazing BBQ place? Look no further than right down the street at the Federalist Pig in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington DC. Just a short, 7-minute walk from our DC Bed and Breakfast, its well worth the hike. As you approach, you see the entrance is an old smoke house door with a faint American flag painted on the exterior of the building, so you know there some good food is behind it, a prime example of a whole-in-the-wall kinda joint, presumably planned.

When you open the door the smell of the grill and meat overtake you and its almost like you’re transported to a good ole fashioned pig pickin’. With its gritty, smoky, live atmosphere, order from the counter built all the way around with reclaimed barn wood. The menu is straight to the point, meat, meat, meat and home cooked fixins’, almost as if it somehow inviting vegetarians on a date. Choose from Pork Spare Ribs, Chicken wings, Pork Belly, Carolina Style Pulled Pork BBQ, Pork Shoulder and much more. Make it a combo with either Macaroni and Cheese, Red Potato Salad, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Coleslaw or Chipotle Garlic Green Beans.

While you’re waiting for your food, they have over 25 different sauces for your choosing and for you to sample, from South Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce to the great state of Texas’ own kind of sauce. It is by far the biggest selection of sauces north of the Mason-Dixon line. This place is a must if you visit DC.
