This November 16th to the 18th at the Washington Hilton will be an exciting convention of leaders and changemakers from nonprofits, foundations and corporations of all shapes and sizes at the Independent Sector conference. This conference will take place near our Washington DC Inn. The Independent Sector is the only national membership organization that brings together nonprofits, foundations, and corporations to advance the common good. Those who attend range in many ways. Generally it brings together attendees that are as diverse as the charitable community. Just a small example of what we mean by this, its organizations such as national nonprofits to small community foundations doing charitable work. Another example is organized local governments to major corporations, and they also congregate world renowned leaders as well as local leaders from organizations of every size and mission.
The Independent Sector Conference has an exciting agenda for this year’s conference. They will collaborate on strategies for success, so you can take these tools back to your community and coworkers. Some of the speakers that will be present are Amy Celep from Community Wealth Partners; Andrea Affeltranger from Goodwill Industries International; Brad Fitch from Congressional Management Foundation; Danielle Brian from The Project on Government Oversight (POGO); and Ellen Alberding from The Joyce Foundation. These are just a short list of all the speakers that will be speaking, but for a complete list visit their registration webpage.
Washington DC is the perfect location to host their convention because it’s also Independent Sector’s hometown. This will be a time to absorb inspiration and become energized once again through the Independent Sector culture.
When you’re here, prepare for cooler weather. Pack light layers with some sweaters and a light jacket. You should also bring an umbrella or raincoat as the weather can change rapidly.
