2017 International Cartographic Conference

June 2-7 the 2017 International Cartographic Conference (ICC) will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park, less than a mile from our Washington DC bed and breakfast. ICC 2017 will provide an opportunity for attendees to expand their knowledge on cartography by drawing from some of the best resources in the country, here in the nation’s capitol. The National Galleries of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Geographic Society, and the Library of Congress will each play a crucial role in the conference and will be invaluable educational resources.

What will the conference schedule look like? The agenda will primarily consist of sessions, presentations, meetings, and social events. The Commission Meetings will be broken into the 27 different commissions such as, Commission on Planetary Cartography, Commission on Map Design, Commission on Geospatial Analysis and Modeling, and Commission on Location Based Services. Additionally, attendees will get to hear from keynote presentations featuring experts in government, academia, and business.

Special social events will be held throughout the course of the conference to provide ample opportunity for attendees to connect with and learn from each other. Some of the scheduled events include: the Opening Reception and Official Opening of the International Trade Exhibition, Historic Bars of DC – Walking Tour, Texas-Style Barbeque Dinner, Art Opening // Rising Tides: Batiks on Silk by Mary Edna Fraser, and a Tour of the Four Meridians.
