DC RootsCamp 2016

November 18th-20th RootsCamp 2016 will be held at the Walter E. Convention Center, near our Washington DC bed and breakfast. Roots Camp is a unique opportunity in which progressive organizers together to share and exchange ideas, in order to learn new ideas and make connections. With the Presidential election quickly coming to a close, this camp will allow you to share the many thoughts you have about the current political climate and the ways in which we can improve the nation. People from all over the world attend to discuss the variety of experiences each have had in order to figure out what strategies are and are not effective.

What can you expect at RootsCamp 2016? RootsCamp is unlike most conferences in that you get to set your own agenda. Friday is caucus day, so there will be caucus set up all around DC with a wide variety of issue-based caucuses for you to choose from. Friday will conclude with a Press Lunch and Kickoff Happy Hour for an opportunity for you to connect with other attendees. Saturday will kickoff RootsCamp with a Welcome Plenary with speaker Ria Thompson-Washington, Executive Vice President of the National Lawyers Guild. Saturday and Sunday will primarily consist of different sessions and trainings for you attend. These sessions, however, are created by you, the attendee, so if you would like to have a particular session come ready with your plans and ideas.

Tickets to attend RootsCamp 2016 are $160 for a RootsCamp Partner, $325 for a RootsCamp Travel Partner, $75 for RootsCamp Basic (available to students, seniors, and un/underemployed organizers), and $140 for the RootsCamper. If you’re looking for a place to stay during your trip to DC, check out the room rates at our Washington DC bed and breakfast. We offer both single and double-occupancy rooms ranging from $179-$249 plus tax per night and we always serve a great breakfast in the morning. We are conveniently located only about a 30 walk away from the Walter E. Convention Center and a 10-minute walk away from the Dupont Metro Station.
