Getting from Kalorama to the Convention Center
American Guest House is at 2005 Columbia Road NW, Washington, DC 20009, in Kalorama (Sheridan-Kalorama). Adams Morgan restaurants are nearby for dining. The house is in Kalorama — not an Adams Morgan property.
The Convention Center sits downtown near Mount Vernon Square / Chinatown. It is not a walk from Kalorama. Plan Metro or rideshare:
- Walk about 7–10 minutes to Dupont Circle Metro (Red Line).
- Ride toward Gallery Place–Chinatown or Metro Center, then walk or transfer toward Mount Vernon Square / 7th Street–Convention Center.
- Allow extra time on poster mornings and after evening networking.
Rideshare from Kalorama to Allen Y. Lew Place NW is usually straightforward outside peak congestion. Leave early if you have an 8:00 a.m. session.
Why neuroscience attendees stay near Dupont / Kalorama
Neuroscience weeks fill downtown and Convention Center hotels. Staying northwest in Kalorama keeps you on the Washington Hilton corridor and the Red Line without living inside the busiest downtown blocks.
We are a historic bed and breakfast in an 1893 house with 11 ensuite rooms. We are one block from the Washington Hilton (about a 2-minute walk) and a 7–10 minute walk to Dupont Circle Metro. That layout works if your group mixes Convention Center days with quieter evenings around Dupont Circle, with Adams Morgan nearby for more dining options.
Breakfast, check-in, parking (read carefully)
- Breakfast is included on the Standard Rate and Last Minute Deal only. It is not included on every rate.
- Check-in is 4pm–10pm. You may leave luggage from 10am.
- We have no on-site parking lot. Street parking nearby is often 2-hour residential. Use SpotHero or paid lots/garages. Do not expect free on-site parking.
Convention-week tips from the house
- Confirm session and poster times on sfn.org and in your SfN registration email a few days out.
- Use official SfN housing if you want block rates near the hall; use American Guest House when you want a quieter Kalorama overnight with Metro access.
- Pack light for Metro days. Leave the heavy suitcase at the house after luggage drop at 10am.
- Poster halls and evening events can run long. Build buffer for return rides.

What a five-day science congress means for lodging
Neuroscience 2026 is not a one-night drop-in. Many attendees need Saturday through Wednesday coverage for opening sessions, poster days, and closing symposia. That longer window is why Convention Center and downtown rooms tighten early.
If you arrive Saturday and stay through Wednesday, a Kalorama base keeps evenings quieter while still putting Dupont Circle Metro within a 7–10 minute walk. Colleagues who only need mid-week nights can use the same house without changing neighborhoods mid-meeting.
We do not invent session times beyond what SfN publishes. Read the official program the night before your posters, then set alarms with Metro and rideshare buffer built in. Early plenaries and dense poster blocks are when luggage drop from 10am and a clear breakfast-rate choice matter most.
If your group includes partners or non-attendees, Adams Morgan is nearby for daytime plans while you are at the hall. The house stays in Kalorama either way.

Dupont Circle covers coffee and casual dinner within a short walk of the house. Adams Morgan is nearby for more late options. The National Mall and Smithsonian museums are a Metro or rideshare trip when you want a short break between science days.
