IDWeek 2026 brings the infectious diseases community to Washington, DC, from Wednesday, October 21 to Saturday, October 24, 2026. Scientific sessions are at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and the meeting is hybrid. If you are coming in person and would rather sleep on a quiet residential street than downtown, this guide covers the confirmed IDWeek 2026 dates, how to get to the Convention Center from Kalorama, and the house rules at American Guest House, a historic bed and breakfast at 2005 Columbia Road NW.

The official IDWeek FAQ puts it plainly: “ID Week 2026 will be held Oct. 21-24 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.” The IDWeek homepage and the IDSA event listing give the same dates. Session schedules, badge pickup and room assignments can change, so check the IDWeek site a few days before you travel.
We are not the conference hotel, and we have no connection to IDWeek or IDSA. We are an independent bed and breakfast in Northwest DC, a short Metro or cab ride from the Convention Center.
Getting to the Convention Center from Kalorama
The Convention Center is downtown, so this is not a walking commute. A typical IDWeek 2026 morning from our front door looks like this:
- Walk 10 minutes to Dupont Circle Metro on the Red Line.
- Take the short Metro ride downtown to the Convention Center. Check the WMATA trip planner for the route on the day.
- On tight mornings, a cab or rideshare from the house is the simpler option.
- Leave extra time on the first morning for registration lines.

After a full day of sessions, you ride back to Dupont Circle and walk up to tree-lined residential streets in Kalorama.
Why stay in Kalorama for IDWeek 2026
American Guest House is in Sheridan-Kalorama, a residential neighborhood in Northwest DC. Adams Morgan, with its restaurants, is nearby. Dupont Circle, with more restaurants and the Red Line, is a 10-minute walk.
If your IDWeek 2026 trip also includes a meeting or dinner at the Washington Hilton, the Hilton is a 5-minute walk from the house. That makes the house a practical base if your week is split between the Convention Center and the Hilton side of town.

The house itself is an 1893 row house with 12 guest rooms. Each room has a private ensuite bathroom and one bed, either a double or a queen. We do not have rooms with two beds and we do not offer rollaways, so colleagues traveling together should book one room each.
