As a historic property built in 1893, the American Guest House has certain architectural limitations. We have no on-site lot. Street parking in Kalorama is residential and often two-hour. Book a nearby garage on SpotHero if you are driving. Many guests do not need a car — Dupont Circle Metro (Red Line) is a 7–10 minute walk.
Yes, every room is stocked with complimentary luxury toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and soap. Fresh towels and a hairdryer are provided, and select rooms include a bathrobe. If you forget anything or need something extra, our staff is always happy to help.

Our full breakfast features a rotating daily menu of hot entrées — think eggs, French toast, pancakes, frittatas, and quiche — alongside fresh seasonal fruit, yogurt, granola, house-baked pastries, juice, and freshly brewed coffee and tea. The menu changes every day, so even during a week-long stay you’ll enjoy a new selection each morning. Everything is made in-house from fresh ingredients.

The American Guest House is not a pet-friendly property, with the exception of certified service animals as required by law. We maintain a pet-free environment to ensure a comfortable, allergen-free experience for all guests. No, the American Guest House is a 100% smoke-free property. Smoking, e-cigarettes, and vaping are not permitted anywhere inside the building or on the front porch. A designated outdoor smoking area is available for guests who wish to smoke. A cleaning fee will be assessed if evidence of smoking is found in a guest room.
We do not accept children under 12.
