Mornings at American Guest House are filled with the aroma of cinnamon and vanilla. The kitchen starts while you sleep. Fresh muffins are put in the oven and come out warm with a crumbly top. There is always a breakfast special prepared by Chef Kevin that is appropriate for every season. The breakfast specials are savory plus sweet; or sweet plus savory, but rest assured we make sure all your taste buds are covered and you leave satisfied. We also offer a continental breakfast spread to accompany the rest. Orange juice, milk, coffee, homemade granola and more. Breakfast isn’t just the most important meal of the day, it’s the best meal of the day. It’s also just great fun to get to know the people you are dining with. Eating really does taste better with friends and family, and that is why our staff enjoy watching guests interact because it makes the meal that much more special. Have any good stories to share? Well bring them on over.

Meet Chief Kevin

Chef Kevin, born in Buffalo, NY, movked to the Washington D.C. area to pursue a career in cooking at the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute of Washington. After graduating, he worked for Robert Wiedmaier at Wildwood Kitchen, and Mussel Bar Bethesda. He works at The Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City, VA, in the evenings.

“My grandmother was always an inspiration. I would love to just be around her and learn her recipes brought down from generation to generation. She has been my biggest influence in the food that I create,” Chef Kevin says upon reflection of his biggest aspiration in his career choice.

Classic breakfast dishes are executed with aplomb, but we offer variety. Cuisine alters from region to region, but our Washington DC dining makes you feel like you’re on a vacation whether you’re here for business of fun.

Chief Kevin’s cuisine flair is accredited from his travel to England, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Prague, Turkey and Germany.  Come taste his vibrant breakfast specials at our Washington DC Bed and Breakfast.

We work with what’s in season. And summer time is all about the bright berries and juicy peaches. French toast with blueberry cobbler? Yes please! It isn’t magic, at our Washington DC hotel, that makes our breakfasts so fantastic, but it’s the creative efforts mixed with a little bit of loving what you do. In the winter we do warm cinnamon rolls and dishes like pumpkin waffles or morning pizza–yes, now you can legally eat pizza in the morning without the judgment. A large bowl of fruit is put out for guest to eat without condiments, or dress it up with our yogurt and honey. And don’t worry, there is more than plenty of everything so you won’t leave hungry! We like to switch things up. So if perhaps you have a fan-favorite recipe to share, bring it! It’s such fun for guests to pass down their super secret recipes and then see Mom’s souffle, the next day, at the breakfast table. Surprise!

For years, our Washington DC lodging has been recognized for its exceptional service and standards. Part of that come from attitude and the other part comes from just loving what we do. Job satisfaction is important both internally and externally. Because the innkeepers and Chef have satisfaction in their work environment, you get an exceptional experience and quality of hospitality. Whatever your need both in food and service, no matter how big or how small, come to us so we can try to make it right.

With that, a great night’s sleep makes breakfast food that much better. And we have both. By encouraging quiet hours, our Washington DC inn becomes a bomb shelter of silence. That mixed with our comfortable bed spread, everything comes into play perfectly to make beauty rest that much more achievable. Do you prefer a mattress hard or soft? Just give us a ring and we can suggest which room is best for your sleeping needs. Puffy exhausted eyes in the morning be gone!

Is your meeting earlier than sunrise? Ok we’ve got things covered. Our to-go breakfast is a fan favorite for all you super early risers. You didn’t think we would send you off hungry did you? Let us know your particulars so we can prepare your to-go breakfast specifically to your requirements.
