Carbs have gotten a bad reputation thanks to movie stars and fitness junkies. But have you ever met a carb-free person you enjoy spending a lot of time with? Here are American Guest House, we believe in the power of muffins. Every day we serve you a plate of piping hot muffins that are perfectly portioned for guilt-free eating. The tops have that gorgeous brown crust and the insides are moist with blueberries bursting out. We are trying to tempt you to the dark side of breakfast, so come prepared to leave your carb judgments at the door.
Meet Chef Kevin
Chef Kevin, born in Buffalo, NY, moved to the Washington D.C. area to pursue a career in cooking at the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institute of Washington. After graduating, he worked for Robert Wiedmaier at Wildwood Kitchen, and Mussel Bar Bethesda. He works at The Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City, VA, in the evenings.
“My grandmother was always an inspiration. I would love to just be around her and learn her recipes brought down from generation to generation. She has been my biggest influence in the food that I create,” Chef Kevin says upon reflection of his biggest aspiration in his career choice.
Classic breakfast dishes are created for morning specials: eggs benedict, French crepes, and corned-beef-hash with fried eggs. However, dish pairings guests have not tasted before are served as well: maple bourbon banana pancakes, honey grits with sauteed vegetables under a poached egg, and eggs florentine with roasted red pepper chardonnay sauce.
Chef Kevin’s cuisine flair is accredited from his travel to England, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Prague, Turkey and Germany. Come taste his vibrant breakfast specials at our Washington DC Bed and Breakfast.
Everyday is a festival when Chef Kevin gets things cooking. His spice for life is transfered over to his breakfast dishes. You know the old-fashioned depiction of man eating eggs while sipping black coffee and reading the newspaper? We don’t do that here. It’s all about laughter paired with great food in our dining room. Chef Kevin strives for chemistry with his meals–fresh flavors that light up on the first bite. But, he also pushes conservative cooking boundaries on what one can do. Ever heard of ricotta pancakes? He’ll have you asking for seconds and then the recipe.
And the conversation, of course, is on par with the quality of our food. We consider our guest to be friends, both old and new, and each brings a different outlook to the breakfast table; making the monotony of a morning routine turn into an open floor to discuss: politics, love, family, religion, tourist ideas, news, children, and stretch the walls with laughter because from 7:30-9:30 A.M., there is no better place to be than our Washington DC Accommodation.
We try to accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests, please inform us of any restrictions and/or Special Requests at least One Week prior to your arrival. We we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
