DC Music Scene

A lot of people believe that all we do in DC is politics, but that’s not accurate at all. The District loves its films, food, festivals, and music. In fact, this week (and in some cases, every week) for live music you have your choice between THE BOSS (a.k.a. Bruce Springsteen), original members of Bob Marley’s The Wailers, the Latin American Harp Festival, the Columbia Stations Jazz Session (which is just up the street from our lovely Washington DC Lodging), the Washington Concert Opera, and many more. This city’s free or inexpensive entertainment doesn’t stop at the Smithsonian museums. There are tons of free or cheap venues around town to catch live indie rock or outdoor jazz. Honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising to accidentally stumble across such a venue in DC, since they’re all over town.  In keeping up with loads of free things to do in this great Nation’s Capital, this historical Washington DC Hotel also offer free delicious gourmet breakfast, cookies, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, city maps, luggage storage, and more.

Washington DC Museums

The National Building Museum

The National Building Museum is one of the most spectacular historical buildings in Washington, DC. Once the Pension building, it was designed to house the Pension Bureau and served as venue for social events for Washington, DC’s “social elite” during that period. The “Great Hall” is still used for social events to this day.

The museum displays various exhibits including their permanent collection of architectural photography and toys. Right now the building held the Cherry Blossom Festival.

The museum is located across the street from the Judiciary Square metro stop on the red line or the Gallery Place metro stop on the yellow and green lines just two blocks away from the museum and about 15 minutes from Dupont circle Metro Station near our Washington DC lodging.
