Summer in DC- A lovely time to explore the US Botanical Gardens

As spring gives way to summer, what better time to explore Washington DC’s US Botanical Gardens? The Botanical Gardens, Conservatory, National Garden, and Bartholdi Park are all free and open to the public 365 days a year! While you’re in the area, take a stroll by the U.S. Capitol Building and its Reflecting Pool out front, or stop by one of the many Smithsonian Museums along the National Mall. The National Gallery of Art also includes multiple indoor atriums with tall domed ceiling with indoor gardens to enjoy.

For easy directions from our Washington DC bed and breakfast near the heart of Dupont Circle, please view the map below. Our accommodations are only about a 10 minute walk to the Dupont Circle metro, where you can catch the metro to quickly arrive at the Botanical Gardens and National Mall.

US Botanical Gardens in Washington DC

As the springtime weather begins to emerge, it becomes the perfect time to visit the US Botanical Gardens in Washington DC. Established in 1820, The Botanical Gardens are among the oldest in the nation. Completely free to the public, The Conservatory, National Garden and Bartholdi Park are open 365 days a year! Located on The National Mall, close to many Smithsonian museums and next to The Capitol Reflecting Pool, the Botanical Gardens offer a variety of exhibits and displays throughout the year.  The Conservatory includes species from all around the world, and the Garden’s “Savage Plants” exhibit features the popular carnivorous plants exhibit. The US Botanical Garden, Annual orchid exhibit, Washington DC

From jungle to desert to primeval paradise, the indoor gardens and galleries, step in the US Botanical Garden) which is one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America!

There is always something going on at the U.S. Botanical Garden… Right now until April 29, the Garden presents his Washington DC annual orchid exhibit features orchids from around the globe.  Admission to the exhibition is free for all ages.

The U.S. Botanical Gardens are accessible by the Federal Center metro stations, serviced by the green and orange lines. Please visit the U.S. Botanical Gardens for hours of operation when planning and if you need a place to stay, remember our Washington DC Guest House!
