The Folger Shakespeare Library

The Folger Shakespeare Library was established in 1932 by Emily Jordan Folger and Henry Clay Folger.  It contains the largest and most distinguished collection of Shakespeare literature in the world, originating with the personal collection of the Folger’s. The Folger is a world renowned research center on Shakespeare and the early modern age in the Western Hemisphere.

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and the Library is closed on all Federal holidays. The Folger is also open for special ticketed performances and programs on select evening and Sundays. Admission to the library is free. There is also a reading room for “registered readers”.
