The Hirshhorn museum

Last weekend one our guest went to the Hirshhorn museum and enjoyed, so here some info about the museum…

The Smithsonian Institute’s  Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden holds an extensive and diverse collection of modern and contemporary art from internationally renowned artists. The museum is named for Joseph H. Hirshhorn an avid art enthusiast and collector who donated his large sculpture collection to the Smithsonian Institute after loaning it to the Guggenheim in New York City. To date the museum maintains  the mission to collect and preserve modern and contemporary art in all media as Mr. Hirshhorn dedicated much of his life doing.

The museum is open daily from 10 am to 5:30 pm and is closed on Christmas Day, December 25th. In the tradition of all Smithsonian Institute museums, admission to the Hirshhorn is free.

The Hirshhorn located at Independence Avenue and Seventh Street SW. The closest metro station is the L’enfant Plaza which is accessible by the blue, orange, yellow and green lines. Please visit the museum’s website for additional information on exhibits.
