American Medical Association’s 2013 National Advocacy Conference

The American Medical Association will hold its 2013 National Advocacy Conference at the Grand Hyatt in Washington D.C. from February 11 to 13, 2013. This event promises to empower participants to advocate on behalf of patients, the medical profession, and the future of medicine in America. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to interact and engage with members of Congress, political insiders, and several experts. Keynote speakers for this conference include Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius and NBC’s White House Correspondent, Chuck Todd.

Building A Grad Nation Summit

The Building A Grad Nation Summit 2013 will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C. from February 24 to 26, 2013. This important summit will bring together hundreds of community organizations, policymakers, educators, and business leaders to address America’s drop out crisis. During the third annual Grad Nation Summit, participants will share their progress and engage in meaningful dialogue to better prepare high school students for college success.

Presidents’ Day Weekend 2013

Come to Washington DC on Presidents’ Day Weekend 2013! There are several exciting events taking place in the Nation’s Capital:

George Washington’s Birthday Parade will take place in Old Town Alexandria, VA on Monday February 18 from 1pm-3pm and it is accessible by metro train. By the way, it’s the country’s largest Presidents’ Day Parade!

Abraham Lincoln Birthday Observance at the Lincoln Memorial will honor Abraham Lincoln at a Presidential wreath laying ceremony with the reading of the “Gettysburg Address.”

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum will have the Presidential Gallery. The gallery will be interactive featuring various historical figures.

And also, don’t forget to go to Gadby’s Tavern in Alexandria. Each year, the Saturday night before President’s Day, a Birth Night Ball is held at the Tavern.

Council on Undergraduate Research Dialogues 2013

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) will hold its Dialogues 2013 conference on February 21-23, 2013 at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza.  These dialogues bring together university faculty, research directors, and grants administrators to Washington, D.C. for the opportunity to interact with federal agencies and other grants administrators.

The AIPAC Policy Conference is one of the most important gatherings of the pro-Israel movement in the US. People come to DC from all over the 50 States to network and discuss the future of policy making for Israel-US relationship. This Year’s conference will be held on March 3rd-5th at the Walter E Washington Convention Center, which is located at 1.8 miles from our Guest House.
