From June 30th until the 3rd of July 2013, the AACE International’s Annual Meeting will be held at the Washington DC Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, just 15 minutes away from our  Dupont circle inn. It will be an  excellent opportunity for the attendees to network with their peers, earn CEUs/PDHs and attend the latest papers on cost, schedule and management at AACE’s 2013 Annual Meeting. Visiting the National Cathedral

Whatever your religious affiliation, the National Cathedral is sure to arouse your strongest emotions with its imposing structure, historic and cultural value. The Cathedral’s knowledgeable staff is prepared to offer visitors guided tours, but self-touring is also permitted. Be prepared to catch a wonderful glimpse of Washington DC While touring the Cathedral grounds, whose elevation offers the highest city view.

Guests at our Washington DC accommodations are able to catch the N6 Metro Bus ride at the intersection between Q St. and Massachusetts Avenue. This bus line stops within walking distance of the National Cathedral at Cathedral and Wisconsin (see map below for more details).

Sightseeing Tour of Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. offers plenty of opportunities to visit historical landmarks and other amazing attractions.  However, visitors often do not have time to visit all of these wonderful sites.  But there is good news for the time crunched traveler, Big Bus Tours offers a 24 Hour pass on its open top buses.  This pass includes a Hop-On Hop-Off feature that allows customers to get off at any designated stop to explore museums, cafes , shops, galleries, and more!

Not interested in going off the beaten path? Use a Capital Bikeshare to get around the Mall – great for travelers with little time to spare. Plus, using a Capital Bikeshare is a great way to fight the “vacation weight gain.”

Earth Month at Union Station Washington DC

In order to foster a public discussion on global warming, the Earth Day Network is sponsoring a month long event at Union Station in Washington DC. Beginning on April 1 and lasting to April 30 2013 ,Washington DC’s Union Station will educate visitors through interactive and environmentally friendly experiences. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in public discussion panels or watch alternative energy demonstrations. The organizers are also working on a film festival, a green fashion show, and a farmers market.

As one of the busiest transit hubs in the United State, the Union Station also enables countless visitors to learn more about the various projects going on across the country to fight global warming. Given the rapid transformation our climate patterns have undergone, it’s now more important to spearhead a meaningful debate to save our planet for future generations.

2013 National Environmental Justice Conference

The 2013 National Environmental Justice Conference and Training will be held from April 3 to April 5, 2013 in Washington DC. For the training portion of the conference, participants will meet at the historic Howard University’s Law School on April 3. On the following day, the conference will be held at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center from April 4 to 5, 2013.

 
During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to collaborate with different organizations in order to effectively address the issue of climate change. Leaders from across the nation plan to come together for this 3 day event to share and discuss ways to better our world.
