Within about 10 minutes walking distance of the AmericanGuestHouse Bed and Breakfast, there are several restaurants from all over the world, for every taste and every budget.  You can either walk south towards Dupont Circle or North towards Adams Morgan and you will find an array of places to eat.
- Granja D’oro located at 1832 Columbia Road, is a small sort of fast food Peruvian restaurant that offers very inexpensive and very tasty Baked, Fried and Roasted Chicken, Beef and Fish — They offer eat in and take out — We have eaten there many times. You’d pay about $7 for a half roasted chicken with a small salad and choice of rice, french fries or fried yuca.

Tourist season in DC begins with the Cherry Blossom Festival in April. Consequently at many of the museums and especially around the Tidal Basin where the Cherry Blossoms are, crowds will be large. Summer is hot and humid, so if you visit then, be sure to plan most of your activities inside museums. Fall is another wonderful time to visit Washington, DC, as the crowds are gone, and the weather is pleasant. If you’d like to see the government in action, US citizens can call your senators or congressional representatives in advance to obtain tickets to view Congress in session. Click on the link for more… |

On Columbus Day, we took the day off for some sight seeing.  It was a beautiful day, perfect for being at the Mall in Washington DC — We stopped by the Air and Space Museum and saw a 3-D movie called “Magnificent Desolation” — This movie is about the Apollo/Astronauts walk on the moon (did you know that 12 Astronaults have walked on the moon?)– This is a very interesting movie and it is worth seeing it.  Admission fees $9 per adult and $6 per child. Â
If you like eating at MacDonald’s there is one inside the Museum however it is cheaper to eat at the one located about 3 short blocks away at C and 4th Streets (to get there from the museum take 6th street which is right in front of the museum, go two short blocks, turn left on C Street and go to end of block.Â
