Celebrate Memorial Day in Washington DC!

Despite the partisan bickering, there is one thing that brings Americans together: Freedom. We are lucky to live in a country that offers its citizens the opportunity to succeed in life, regardless of their humble beginnings. Yet, we must recognize that these liberties came at a price. Countless men and women have laid down their lives overseas and at home. Over the years, we have built memorials to commemorate these brave men and women here in the nation’s capital.

As you prepare plans to visit Washington DC during memorial day, make sure to include the following in your itinerary and enjoy a 10% coupon from us.  Please copy/paste this code onto your online reservation:  memorial526527

Theodore Roosevelt Memorial

This past weekend I visited for the first time (after 5 being a DC resident for 5 years) the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial located on a tiny island on the Potomac river. Let me tell you, what an amazing experience it was! This place is a living memorial, with  a “real forest” designed to mimic the natural forest that once covered the island, miles of trails through wooded uplands and swampy bottom lands…
By the way, did you know that the term “teddy bear” was brought on by a toy makers labeling of the stuffed animals after a generous act of Theodore Roosevelt sparing a bears life during a sporting event?  Ever since millions of children have come to enjoy the animals as a bedtime comfort naming their furry friends, though nothing beats a good old “Teddy” bear to show just how great this president was.
