Getting in the winter spirit? Enjoy art? Why not combine the two at The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink?
There you can view the outdoor sculptures, while ice skating in the open air, at times even to music!
The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink is free and open to the public, and located on the National Mall at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue NW. Monday- Thursday, the Gallery is open 10 a.m.- 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.
When you’re finished, come on back the Guest House and warm up with some delicious hot cocoa. Enjoy!

Look no further; DC is a natural place to spend your holiday weekend, with so many commemorative events taking place all about the city. What better time to pay a visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall in downtown DC?

For many years the Hope Diamond has been the star of the Smithsonian
National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC, but now it’s light is not shining as bright since it begun sharing the spot light with Dom Pedro Aquamarine, the largest single piece of cut-gem aquamarine in the world. This magnificent gem was mined in Brazil in the late 1980s and named after its first two Brazilian emperors, Dom Pedro Primeiro and his son, Dom Pedro Segundo.

This Conference will feature over 800 scientific papers, breakfast seminars, workshops and various other activities. Looking for something to do this week in Washington DC? Check out the Smithsonian’s Pure Land Exhibit at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. The exhibit is entitled, “A digital, immersive experience of Cave 220 at Dunhuang, China.” The exhibit runs through December 9, 2012, and admission is free. Every year, during the first week of December, the Potomac river lights up with over 5o festively decorated boats for the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights. The best place to see the parade is from the docks of the Alexandria Marina where Santa will be also arriving. Check out some pictures of previous years and come enjoy this holiday tradition with us!
