Washington DC’s Newseum

If you’re traveling to Washington, DC, the Newseum is a must. This top-rated museum celebrates the freedoms we have as Americans and how those freedoms have shaped our nation’s history. Through galleries, interactive exhibits, and theatres, you will learn about and experience events throughout our history and how each were distinctly documented. The exhibits at the museum give the perspectives of journalists who recorded the historical moments, giving you an inside look into our nation’s history. Journalism and media have changed drastically in the past few years, and the museum will take you through this evolution from the newspapers during the Revolution to technology under Trump. There are 15 galleries and theatres, each with a plethora of artifacts, reading materials, videos, interactive displays and more – you could spend hours looking at everything!

What will I see? Current displays at the Newseum, include 1967: Civil Rights at 50, 9/11 Gallery, Inside Today’s Changing FBI, Berlin Wall Gallery, NBC Newsroom Interactive, Bloomberg Internet, TV, and Radio Gallery, and many more. A few of the most memorable sights at the Newseum are the antenna from the World Trade Center, the front covers of newspapers from around the world the day after 9/11, pieces from the Berlin Wall, some of the first newspapers written in America, and Pulitzer Prize photographs. In addition to the incredible exhibits, the Newseum provides some of the best views of the city!

How can I visit? The Newseum is located at 555 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, near our Washington DC B&B, and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sundays. Tickets are required, and can be purchased either at the museum or online. Tickets (for Adults 19 – 64) are $24.95. Since there’s so much to see, the purchase of your ticket includes the following day’s admission as well!
