National Book Festival 2017

Book lovers, mark your calendars for September 2nd and pack your bags for Washington, DC for the 17th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival! Every year book fans from across the country gather in the nation’s capital to hear from best-selling authors, attend panels and book signings, and revel in their love of reading. This year, an unparalleled lineup of authors, poets, and illustrators will take the stage to discuss topics such as history, poetry, fiction, contemporary life, and science. The festival will be a day filled with family-friendly activities and events, including book sales, signings, and food service. Admission to attend the National Book Festival is free.

Where will the festival be held? The festival will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, near our Washington DC Inn, in downtown DC. Located at 7th and L St, the convention center is conveniently next to the Mount Vernon Metro Station on the Green/Yellow Line. From our DC Inn, you can hop on the Dupont Metro Station, just a 10-minute walk away, and within 15 minutes you will be there. During your stay in DC, you should also stop by the world’s largest library, the Library of Congress. There you can learn about the history of the Library, see the exquisite architecture of the building, and explore the many resources they offer.

What authors will be attending? A long list of distinguished writers will be in attendance, and a few of them are: David McCullough, Roxane Gay, Elizabeth Strout, Kathleen Glasgow, J.D. Vance, and David Baldacci.

Where can I stay during my visit? Our Washington DC B&B is conveniently located less than two miles from the Convention Center, and is an affordable and cozy accommodation.
