All I know about finance is that I can use money to buy things. Thankfully I’m not a bank or a financial institution. Such institutions require up-to-date knowledge of the tiny changes in regulation, the evolution of financial instruments, and the regulatory terrain that effects their business’s operations. Organizations like the Commercial Finance Association help organize and disseminate such information to nearly 300 member institutions in the sixteen chapters across the United States.

The CFA’s annual meeting will be held on November 10th through the 15th at the Marriot Wardman Park, just a short walk from our Washington D.C. Inn. The Keynote Speaker of the event will be the Former Chairman of the Governors of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke – a huge draw, since probably no one else in the world knows more about the regulatory terrain in the financial services industry. The conference will feature a variety of panel discussions involving small and large lenders, representatives of the Bankruptcy Reform Commission, and a Regulatory Panel. Importantly, there will be an industry happy hour that will provide valuable networking opportunities, in addition to a nightcap reception sponsored by Goldberg Kohn and Otterbourg P.C. Austere finance followed by drinks and revelry! We hope to see some of the conference attendees as guests.
