KanKouran’s 31st Annual National Conference and Concert is coming to Washington, DC. This fun-filled event will be sponsored by the Washington Plaza, The D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the D.C. Office of African Affairs. This conference is very different then most thanks to Assane Konte, who for over 30 years has staged authentic glimpses of the peoples and cultures of Africa.
KanKouran, director of the West African Dance Company, has devoted his future to the establishment of an African Culture Center to serve as a model to educate the community to better understand and appreciate pan-African and cross-cultural artistic endeavors. Those who plan to attend this event with have the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of West Africa. All of participants who have traveled near a far to visit the nation’s capital for this event will take part in three days of intense workshops in traditional African dance and drum, taught by Mali, Senegal and Guinea who are all very skilled master dancers. KanKouran 2014 Conference and Concert will take place August 29 – August 31, 2014 at the Washington Plaza, and at the Lisner Auditorium in George Washington University. Our Washington, DC B&B is a close metro or bus ride away from this event and would love to take care of you while you are here visiting for this event.
