Each year Jehovah’s Witnesses from across the country gather for conferences held at a different location each year. This year’s takes place at FedEx Field from August 1st – 3rd in Washington D.C.
In the grand scheme of things, the Jehovah’s Witnesses are a fairly new religious organization. The church headquarters is located in Brooklyn, NY and at the top of the church’s organizational structure is the Governing Body that shapes doctrine and provides spiritual direction to members of the church.
The conference will largely center on the dissemination and creation of literature, the guidance of church members who actively seek new members by walking door-to-door and engaging in missionary work. This year’s conference will find 62,000 members in D.C. and will be expected to contribute an estimated $32,000,000 to the local economy. There are no indications that the church will be lobbying members of government, but the presence of a large body of church members in the nation’s capital will allow the organization to make its presence felt.
Our D.C. Inn would like to welcome members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses to the district and extend an invitation to attendees of the conference.
