The National Academy Foundation was created in 1982 in order to facilitate high school students’ transition into the professional world, particularly students who haven’t received the skills training necessary to succeed in the private sector. NAF Next 2014, the NAF’s annual conference, will take place Tuesday, July 8th – Saturday, July 12th, and will feature a huge variety of sessions over the four-day event.  The conference is taking place at the Washington Marriot Wardman Park. Topics range from designing an effective job shadow program for high school students, helping students create and stick to budgets, grant-writing, to creating effective mock interviews.

Organizations like the National Academy Foundation are crucial to helping students acquire skills that high schools and parents often neglect to emphasize. Our D.C. Inn values the role of institutions such as the NAF play in civil society. We need more private/public partnerships like the NAF to help build a strong, moral work force for the 21st century.

The multi-day event is occurring just by our D.C. lodging, so we welcome participants to join us around the breakfast table each morning for fresh fruit and a hot meal. Then once the conference lets out, walk up to Adam’s Morgan or down to Dupont Circle to experience D.C. nightlife. We hope attendees choose our B&B during the event.
