On Thursday, June 26th members of the non-profit community with meet at SEIU for the 2014 Nonprofit 2.0 Unconference. What is an unconference? It differs from a traditional conference by leaving the organization of the event to the attendees the morning it takes place. At 10:30am, attendees will all convene and brainstorm on the format, topics of presentations, and general organization of the day. This format breaks away from a structure that focuses primarily on keynote speeches and allows the attendees to take control of the conference agenda. At the end of the presentations, everyone will convene to review the main highlights of the unconference.

The unconference is $45 to attend. Although topics are not determined ahead of time, those who are encouraged to attend include those involved in online advocacy and outreach, grassroots organizing, social media, fundraising, communications, nonprofit technology, nonprofit consulting, public affairs, programming. The unconference will allow persons in these fields networking opportunities with others interested in forward-thinking public policy initiatives and other social policy breakthroughs. Our D.C. Inn hopes attendees will choose us when seeking accommodation for the unconference. While we believe that the adherence to strict planning in crucial to successfully preparing hot breakfasts for our guests, we encourage extempore improvisation in other contexts.
