The National Effective Teaching Institute, managed by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), is a three day workshop being held near our DC inn, at the Palomar hotel in Dupont Circle. The workshop is for engineering faculty members to have hands-on training. The conference is also designed to encourage attendees to continue moving their career in a positive/meaningful direction. This valuable conference will also offer improved methods for effective teaching.
As a teacher, one has to not only plan course work, but lectures, grade student’s assignments, and deal with a wide range of problems that arise daily; but teachers also have to be mentors. What is so exciting about this conference is the opportunity. Teachers from a wide range of campuses will come together under the common interest of making tomorrows students contributing members of society.
The conference will be held from May 29-31st 2014. Engineering deans from these campuses can nominate up to two faculty members, however, the conference spots fill up by whomever turns in their form first. With the location in the center, some DC’s finest restaurants and shopping venues, the guests will have plenty of choices for out-of-session activities. What a great experience this will be to travel, learn, and take hold of new-age tools to help the generations to come!
