AACTE – Washington Week 2014

On June 10th – 13th educators from across the nation will convene in Washington D.C. at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park for an annual conference held by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE).  Our Washington DC Inn is about 10 minutes away by foot from this hotel.  The three day event is comprised of three workshops, allowing educators to gain insight into the legislative processes that affect teacher training and also lobby for increased federal funding of such programs. Educators will also learn advocacy skills to gain a persuasive edge during such events and share their chapter’s programs with others from across the nation.

In an increasingly globalized economy, teachers need to be better prepared than ever. The AACTE therefore serves an essential function by ensuring that our legislators are serving the public good by funding teacher training.

Our resident innkeepers often find themselves in the position of student during breakfasts attended by people in town for conferences. We know that the real work of educating tomorrow’s leaders is serious, difficult business and we are encouraged by educators who roll up their sleeves and do the hard to fight for the change they wish to see in the classroom.  We’d like to extend a warm welcome to the AACTE 2014 Washington Week attendees.
