The 25th Annual National Service-Learning Conference will be held at the Washington, DC Marriott Wardman Park. The conference goal is to provide an engaging and comprehensive professional development conference for youth and adults who are committed to addressing issues that impact local communities and the world. This conference’s multiple day, concurrent session format offers a self-directed, facilitated learning environment with education sessions, discussion groups and interactive workshops designed specifically for all levels of attendees engaged in service-learning and focused on current and emerging issues, best practices and the challenges facing us today.
Featured speakers are, Philippe Cousteau, President, EarthEcho International will be attending the conference. Cousteau is the 33-year-old son of Jan and Philippe Cousteau Sr., and the grandson of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau. His personal mission is to help people find hope and recognize their power to change the world. Cousteau co-founded and serves as President of EarthEcho International, a leading environmental education organization. EarthEcho is committed to inspiring and engaging young people everywhere to be leaders for a bright future by helping them take action to solve environmental challenges in their communities through service-learning. Also Sandra Day O’Connor, Associate Justice, Supreme Court (Retired) In 1981, President Ronald Reagan nominated her as a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and she received unanimous Senate approval. O’Connor made history as the first woman justice to serve on the Supreme Court. As a justice, O’Connor was as a key swing vote in many important cases, including the upholding of Roe v. Wade. She retired in 2006, after serving for 24 years.
