Women are half of humanity, well technically they are a little more than half and yet they are considered in most places a neglected minority. Jobs, education, even access to basic healthcare are often difficult for women to receive the same as men in many regions of the world it is an unparalleled problem. Nonetheless brave and reputable organizations like CARE strive to turn the tide, to empower women and thus their communities and humanity as a wider whole.
Founded in 1945 in the aftermath of World War II CARE has stood the test of time and is known for its world class social service programs. Attending one of these prestigious events should be on any socially responsible persons calendar, we’re a Washington DC Inn and its most definitely on ours…
Attend and add your voice to those others concerned for the betterment of women and girls everywhere! In 2014 CARE National Conference & International Women’s Day Celebration will be held for two days in March (the 5-6th) at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C., one block from us, to honor advances girls and women have made.
Understanding the role of poverty plays such a large role in these efforts that the first conference day will be devoted entirely to understanding the systemic issues poor people face globally – and how we can CARE can make a difference.
The second day will be spent discussing how to make a real difference to the lives of poor women and girls, their families and wider communities around the planet.
