The 2014 annual National Association of Counties Legislative Conference will be held March 1st – 5th at the Washington Hilton. This event is expected to bring over 2000 elected and appointed county officials from across the country.
The post World War II urbanization of local governments brought about changes in the power structure, which gave greater autonomy from the states, rising revenues, and stronger political accountability ushered in a new era for county government. The counties began providing an ever widening range of services. These trends continue today, which is why this annual legislative conference is so important. Connecting with federal officials is the only way to insure a that the county is a well functioning conduit of community and economic development and services for the citizens of each county. Legislation and policy is the heart of NACo’s role in Washington, D.C.
This event is pleased to present to it’s attendees the chief White House Correspondent for Politico, Mr. Mike Allen. Also Honorary Co-Chairs of the organization, “No-Labels” Governor Jon Huntsman and Senator Joe Manchin will engage in a dialogue that delves further into breaking down the structural problems that push our leaders apart and how the existence of common goals can drive across-the-aisle solutions.
Conveniently located between two upscale neighborhoods, our Washington, DC lodging is only a block away from the Hilton and site of the convention.
