I must have been a Francophile early on in life. Well, I know why…growing up in a home with a French Chef is the recipe for early food snobbery. Somewhere around the age of 9, I was requesting Cheese Souffle for dinner while my friends were asking for pizza or hot dogs. I still don’t like pizza.
The other evening, my friends and I had a late supper at Bistrot Du Coin. The atmosphere took me back to an era that I swear I could recall first hand. The era was 1920′s Paris. Something like Woody Allen’s, “Midnight in Paris”. Except, everyone in the restaurant was dressed in modern attire and no one was smoking. With 5 pounds struggling to hang on to my thighs, I hesitated to sample the cavalcade of food staring me in the face as we ordered much too much for our little group. All was consumed and my thighs be damned. Each morsel of food was perfection and the wine was just a it should be…a perfect note of flavors.
