The National Community Reinvestment Coalition will hold its 2013 annual conference at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. from March 20 -23, 2013. This year’s conference brings together policy makers, non-profit leaders, business leaders, researchers, and media to discuss ways of improving the lives of low-income Americans through workforce development, financial literacy, and economic revitalization. Credit Card Processing Fees & PCI Compliance

I would like to thank Janet Wolf from The B&B Team for the excellent article she wrote about credit card processing fees and other issues that we merchants have to constantly deal with, and in most cases, quite blindly because the system is unfair.  So, most of us keeping on paying the high fees because the system is not accountable to anyone?  If you own a business you can’t afford not to read the article.   You might also want to talk with Tom Weiskotten of TrustOne about how to reduce your credit card processing fees.  He sounds genuinely fair and honest.

The National Association of Community Health Centers’ 2013 Policy & Issues Forum

The National Association of Community Health Centers will hold it’s 2013 Policy & Issues Forum at the Washington DC Marriott Wardman Park Hotel from March 20-23, 2013. Now that the November election is over, the Policy & Issues forum will focus attention on what is at stake for health centers across the country. Given the political climate surrounding the fiscal crisis, attendants should expect a lively discussion on how centers can might be affected by proposed budget cuts. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to educate key Members of Congress and staff on issues relevant to their organization.

National League of Cities Congressional City Conference

The National League of Cities will hold its Congressional City Conference from March 9, 2013 – March 13, 2013 in Washington DC, at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel, a short distance from our lovely DC inn. The Conference, expected to draw over 2000 elected city officials, will span federal policy issues important to municipalities, including infrastructure and job development, and budget reduction efforts. In addition, the conference will hold leadership training seminars and networking events for constituency groups. The 2013 National Summit on Quality In Home Visiting Programs will be held at the Omni Shoreman Hotel from February 13 through 14, 2013. The conference promises to engage researchers, program leaders, and policy makers in a dialogue regarding challenges and successes of programs across the country and the world. This year’s keynote speaker, New Zealand’s Social Development Minister Paula Bennet, will speak about her country’s work on improving the quality of life for at risk youth and families.
