Welcome to The Walking Gallery, we gather together again!

The Walking Gallery is a group of people who wear business coats and walk around business areas.  The art is in the coat.  These are not just normal coats but rather works of Art.  For   more information you must visit the website, for seeing is believing in this amazing event held on June 07, 2012 for 5-7pm.  The American Guest House Bed and Breakfast enjoys keeping our guests up to date on events such as this in our area so that they may embrace the most from their visit here in DC. Washington DC Public Transportation

How can I get from Dulles Airport to Washington DC on the Bus?

Many of our guests use BWI or Dulles to fly into DC.  There are several methods other than a $70 taxi cab ride.  There is a $3 Metro Bus ride or a $10 Washington Flyer Coach that can get you on the Washington DC’s Metro Rail line which runs throughout the city.  The Washington Flyer is, in my opinion, the most popular method and affordable for the time it takes.  The Washington Flyer departs every 30 minutes at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour.

The American Guest House Bed and Breakfast is right off the Dupont Circle Metro Station and very close to all of the sights in DC.  Our friendly staff is available to suggest restaurants, tours, and museums in the area as well.  Come visit our Washington DC hotel and let us show you to a relaxing night and start you off with our complimentary warm breakfast made to order.

The National Archives in Washington DC

The National Archives Building is located north of the National Mall on Constitution Avenue in Washington DC at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.  The site is accessible by the Archives/Navy Memorial metro station (yellow and green lines) which is across Pennsylvania Avenue from the Archives building.

It holds the original copies of the three main documents of the United States: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. These copies are located in what we call the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom and there is no lines to see the individual documents (visitors are allowed to walk from document to document as they wish). It also hosts a copy of the 1297 Magna Carta.  Those amazing documents are displayed to the public in the main chamber of the building.

Also the archives exhibit other important American historical documents such as the Louisiana Purchase and the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as collections of photography and other historically and culturally significant American artifacts.

Tip for visitors: all filming, photographing, and videotaping by the public in the exhibition areas are prohibited since February 25, 2010.
