The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC

The National Museum of Women in the Arts is located at 1250 New York Avenue, NW in Washington, DC.  The museum is accessible by Metro Center station (Blue, Red lines) which is two blocks from there and the same metro line to go to our lovely Washington DC Bed and Breakfast.

The place is the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to recognizing the contributions of women artists. It holds more than 3,000 works from the 16th century to the present. The  NMWA also has several important special collections, including silver by 18th and 19th-century Irish and English women silversmiths.

You have also the opportunity to check the NMWA Library and Research Center (LRC) which provides researchers with information about women visual artists from all time periods and nationalities. It is open to everyone: scholars, students, researchers, curators, museum professionals, and the general public. The LRC collection includes 18,500 volumes of books and exhibition catalogs, 50 periodical titles, and research files on 18,000 individual women artists.
