Washington DC Tourist Itineraries

Planning to Visit New York after your stay with us in DC? Try the St. Marks Hotel in East Village, Manhattan Island

On a recent stay in New York I found that finding a hotel wasn’t cheap at all.  Luckily I was referred to an amazing historic hotel right near Grand Central Station and just east of Penn Station.  The Saint Marks Hotel has very affordable rates and accommodations for single rooms or large rooms for up to four people!  :)   East village is a fairly safe neighborhood with venues catering to famous food and shops that New York is know for.

The hotel only accepts cash and their February/March rates were around $110 for a single night.  You can’t beat the proximity and convenience as it’s within walking distance to the mega bus, major train stations and even Brooklyn Bridge.

Morning Coffee? It’s a Science.

It’s one of those things that can make or break your day.  Morning coffee is essential for the average person getting off on the right foot for the day.  The right cup can be a science for some. So what do you prefer? Paper Filters or Reusable?  Fresh Coffee Grounds of Pre-Grounded Coffee?  Maybe even just plain old instant coffee?  At the American Guest house we care about what our guests prefer and would love to hear your feedback.

After reviewing several coffee makers, the “Cadillac” of coffee makers seems to be Krups, but the Cuisinart DCC-1200 seems to give the most bang for the buck at 1200 watts of brewing power and a gauge to adjust the temperature of the coffee (Hotter if you like cream with your coffee, slightly cooler if you drink it black).

As a seasoned coffee drinker myself, i enjoy my cup with three creams, two sugars and hot! :-D (replace sugar with a few splashes of peppermint syrup flavoring for an amazing cup).

So tell us, How do you prefer your coffee?  :)
