American Guest House Breakfast Menu Recipes

Looking for a Quick Crepe Recipe?

A twist in a traditional American breakfast could use a batter of Crepe mix. All you need is some flour, eggs, milk and a hint of oil and salt.

A recipe I found to be perfect for few crepe’s at the breakfast table is:

1 1/2 Cups of Milk

1 Cup of Flour

2 Eggs

A Pinch of Salt and a Tablespoon of Oil.

Mix Ingredients well for a smooth liquidy texture. Try to avoid a lumpy batch.  Add milk if it’s too thick and flour if its to liquidy.  Test run your batter on a flat lightly buttered round pan.

Add eggs, sliced mushrooms, choice of meat bits and veggies for an amazing dish.  I recommend to scramble your eggs first and sautee your veggies separately and mix them once separately cooked.  If you are not a mushroom fan, this dish is sure to change your mind.

Enjoy!

Washington DC Public Transportation

Baltimore to DC via Metro Rail/Bus System

If you are flying in from Baltimore, the cheapest way to commute if you don’t have a rental car is by public transportation.  A taxi ride can easily cost $100 or more depending on which side of DC you are visiting.

The B30 Bus line runs fairly often from BWI to the Greenbelt Metro Station in Maryland.  The B30 Bus line costs $7.10 one-way and you can purchase an additional fare at the Greenbelt Metro station for the Metro Rail system.  To get to our guest house, take the Green Line two stations down to Fort Totten and then transfer to the Red Line going south.  Once you arrive at the Dupont Circle Metro station, use the Q Street exit and we are a 10-minute walk up Connecticut Ave. Make a right on Columbia and our guest house is on the left side of the street.

Washington DC Activities

The Carlyle House, Alexandria

This historic home is known for its key role in the French and Indian War. British General Benjamin Braddock used the building as his headquarters, meeting with colonial governors to discuss issues facing colonists and ideas about the war. The stately Georgian home, built by John Carlyle in 1752, is an excellent and well-preserved example of day-to-day life in 18th-century Virginia, showing the prosperity of the period.

Directions:
The Carlyle House Historic Park is located at 121 North Fairfax Street in Alexandria, Virginia.
From Washington, DC: Take George Washington Parkway South towards Alexandria. Turn left on Queen Street and right on N Fairfax.
Carlyle House is also accessible by Metro and bus.  The closest metro station is King St. or Braddock Rd. (Yellow/Blue Lines).
