Global Entry Card

You don’t want to waste your time while entering the USA with the long line? Here is the tip: the Global entry card!

What is the Global entry?

Global Entry is a program being piloted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to receive expedited clearance upon arrival into the United States. Those travelers will be able to enter the United States by using automated kiosks located at select airports.

To enroll in Global Entry, applicants must first file an application with Customs and Border Protection, and then submit to an interview and background check and it will cost $100 for the application. During the interview, the applicant’s fingerprints are captured and a digital photo is taken. Also ”training” is given to the applicants on how to use the automated kiosk.  Then, when your application is approved, you will be able to use the Global Entry kiosk at any participating airport for duration of 5 years.

How does it work and who is eligible?

Once you are at the “kiosk”, you must present your Passport or permanent residency card and submit your fingerprints to establish identity. Then you will have to complete a computerized Customs Declaration, and  you will be  receive a receipt instructing you to either proceed to baggage claim, or to a normal inspection booth for a normal interview.

According to the Global Entry website, “Global Entry is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and citizens of certain other countries.

Banana bread at the Guest House

This recipe it’s one of my favorite/quick recipe. This is a classic Banana Bread recipe that makes your loaf of banana bread very moist and very tasty!

Ingredients

1 ripe banana mashed

3/4 cup pecans

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter melted

2 tsp vanilla extract

4 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

Prepare a loaf pan by spraying with non-stick spray and preheat oven to 325 degrees.Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Toss nuts in the flour mixture to prevent from sinking to the bottom of the loaf.

Combine mashed banana and melted better. Whisk in sugar and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla extract and proceed to beat in one egg at a time.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in thirds until incorporated. Proceed to add buttermilk and combine until evenly moistened.

Place loaf in oven for one hour. Cake is dense and will need to bake through. After 40 minutes you may wish to cover top with foil if it has begun to brown. Remove from oven when toothpick comes out clean and cake is firm to a gentle touch.

Enjoy! Jonathan
